Development of a Cognitive Digital Twin for Pavement Infrastructure Health Monitoring

نویسندگان

چکیده

A road network is the key foundation of any nation’s critical infrastructure. Pavements represent one longest-living structures, having a post-construction life 20–40 years. Currently, most attempts at maintaining and repairing these structures are performed in reactive traditional fashion. Recent advances technology research have proposed implementation costly measures time-intensive techniques. This presents novel automated approach to develop cognitive twin pavement structure by implementing advanced modelling machine learning techniques from unmanned aerial vehicle (e.g., drone) acquired data. The established how initially developed subsequently capable detecting current damage on structure. method also compared evaluating condition as well more employing specialized diagnosis vehicle. study demonstrated an efficiency enhancement

Pavement performance prediction model development for Tehran

Highways and in particular their pavements are the fundamental components of the road network. They require continuous maintenance since they deteriorate due to changing traffic and environmental conditions. Monitoring methods and efficient pavement management systems are needed for optimizing maintenance operations. Pavement performance prediction models are useful tools for determining the op...

Issues in health monitoring for intelligent infrastructure

The US Federal Reserve Board has concluded that the failure of civil infrastructure systems to perform at their expected level may reduce the national gross domestic product (GDP) by as much as 1%. Intelligent-infrastructure systems and components hold promise for improving performance with an excellent cost/benefit ratio. A recent National Science Foundation (NSF) workshop demonstrated the sta...

Development of a Multiscale Monitoring and Health Assessment Framework for Effective Management of Levee Infrastructure

This paper presents an overview of a framework to assess the structural integrity and health of earthen levees. The framework is being developed through a project supported by NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) and relies on remote sensing and field monitoring data of levees during environmental loading conditions and natural processes of degradation. The monitoring data cons...

A Bluetooth Based Sensor Network for Civil Infrastructure Health Monitoring

Communicating with sensors has long been limited either to wired connections or to proprietary wireless communication protocols. Using a ubiquitous and inexpensive wireless communication technology to create Sensor Area Networks (SANs) will accelerate the extensive deployment of sensor technology. Bluetooth, an emerging, worldwide standard for inexpensive, local wireless communication is a viab...
